4 High-Performance Web Technologies For Entrepreneurs

Here is my breakdown of the 4 high-performance web technologies powering SBMarketer.

After inspecting sites, reading articles, & watching videos, I landed on these web technologies I called the “Fantastic Four” (WP, Bricks, ACSS & Frames) system.

For new entrepreneurs, choosing affordable quality web-tech early is critical, as it saves time & costly rebuilds later.

I wanted proven web-tech from the market leader to provide a stable business foundation.

If you’re new to entrepreneurship & learning websites, you don’t want to be migrating in 2-years time, so choose wisely.

Avoid Wix, Squarespace or WordPress.com, as they’re limited in customisations & CPU resources affecting performance.

See SBMarketer’s High-Performance Marketing Websites system breakdown here.

Below are the 4 web technologies I have deployed on SBMarketer.com for over two years.

1. WordPress Base

A self-hosted WordPress website is my titanium business foundation.

This was the first of 4 high-performance web technologies needed for SBMarketer.

“I had good experiences editing sites for a Business School & Medical Training Institute—WP was reliable,” Troy Miller.

WP runs thousands of websites globally. It’s popular because it’s customisable with hundreds of plugins, & can grow with you—small to large.

There’s a lot of community support for new entrepreneurs & WP can be optimised for search.

You optimise Semantic markup & lazy loading using plugins, like Rank Math SEO or WP Rocket.

It powers around 60% of all CMS sites worldwide, & its affordability comes from being open-source with many free themes & plugins.

“WordPress equals quality & many entrepreneurs trust it for their websites.”

Here are some examples:

  1. Tony Robbins: The peak-state business & life coach official website tonyrobbins.com;
  2. Roger Federer: The Wimbledon Tennis champion official website;
  3. Kevin Geary: The founder of Digital Gravy Agency, Automatic.css & Frames uses WP, Bricks & Etch builders;
  4. Paul Charlton: The founder of WPTuts one of the biggest YouTube WP educators uses WP & Bricks builder;
  5. Jakson Bate: The founder of WPJakson a YouTube WP educator uses WP & Bricks builder after leaving Elementor.

WP is well supported with security & technical updates (multiple yearly). It’s market share is growing & it will be strong ten years from now.

“I find WP fast for building sites, blogging & customising. It’s the perfect web-tech base for sbmarketer.com.”

One of the best aspects about WP is your ability to customise with performance plugins for workflow, SEO, & page-loading.

I use plugins like Rank Math SEO, Perfmatters, & WP Rocket to improve page speed & search engine understanding.

With WP self-hosted you get the flexibility to customise & host where it suits your needs.

2. Bricks Theme & Builder

I considered three choices for my WP Theme & Builder—Bricks, Cwicly, & Oxygen.

This was the second of 4 high-performance web technologies needed for SBMarketer.

They all provided pro features, output quality code, & enabled DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself) development practice.

I wanted a theme & builder that could import wireframes to customise & assist standards.

I selected Bricks Theme & Builder as it was recommended by Kevin Geary, a developer who explained the advantages, e.g. clean code, Semantic tagging & intuitive dashboard.

“Bricks is your powerful builder for customising WP websites, it does the heavy lifting (HTML, PHP, & CSS).”

3 Major Layers: themes & templates, a visual builder interface, & element/structure controls.

Build websites using a visual tab (drag & drop) interface, a Control Panel to add content & style, & a Stucture Panel DOM tree.

Bricks enables parent & child themes making customisations safe from future parent updates.

It meta-tags elements, e.g. Header, Section, Article & Footer to support Semantic standards.

Bricks integrates with third-party systems like Automatic.css & Frames that add styling & structure to web pages.

Kevin’s tutorials inspired me to do his Website Building 101 Course—with WP/Bricks—Do it to learn high-performance websites.

“By activating Bricks child theme customisations are safely stored overriding the parent theme.”

Bricks smart dashboard uses indicators, it manages HTML, PHP & CSS scripts, & enables importing wireframes.

After 2-years using Bricks, I’m very happy with the builder & theme used in creating SBMarketer’s Blueprints, Wireframes, & Starter websites.

3. Automatic.css Styling

Next was finding a system to style web pages, enable scalability & maintainability.

This was the third of 4 high-performance web technologies needed for SBMarketer.

Automatic.css (ACSS) is a core WP plugin designed to make website styling easier.

ACSS can globally style a site with utility classes built on tokens (design values), responsive grids (Flex-Grid), & right-click menus.

“ACSS is a Utility-First Framework that speeds-up website styling.”

I like how ACSS gives you the ability to style multiple HTML elements from one utility class.

You can quickly change the colour of multiple HTML elements, by attaching one styled utility class to each element.

You get the benefit of an entire framework to use across colours & spacing, which was created by Kevin Geary to help his agency be more efficient.

With presets you can reference or adjust colors, shades, & transparencies, using utility classes from the dashboard inside Bricks.

You can apply consistent spacing across a website via utility classes (with settings for padding, margin, column, rows) for visual rythm.

You get consistency with global colors, shades, spacing, & typography across an entire website, which enhances your brand colours & identity.

4. Frames Structuring

Lastly I needed a collection of pre-built wireframes (unstyled) for page structuring.

This was the final of 4 high-performance web technologies I needed for SBMarketer.

With a professional wireframe collection you’re empowered to customise web pages like a pro.

Frames integrates with Bricks & speeds up your workflow so you can build pages in less time without coding.

“Frames is a system of pre-built sections & components for structuring pages.”

Frames enables customisation & offers technically superior HTML & CSS. It meets accessibility standards & DRY development practice.

How did I connect Frames to Bricks? In Bricks template settings just add Frames remote templates URL & license key.

Buy why do I need unstyled wireframes? Isn’t it better to use a full web template?

No—it’s more efficient to build with wireframes, so you’re not restructuring pages & restyling for new colours.

Ask about SBM’s WP Wireframe Kit to skip structuring & expedite your website development.

Frames is powered by ACSS utility class styling & it provides maximum structural efficiency.

Each element has a BEM-organised class for styling, allowing multi-element styling.

It’s engineered using CSS Grid layouts, & spacing is controlled with gap for global adjustments.

The DOM structure follows HTML5 & A11y accessibility best practices.

4 High-Performance Web Technologies

The “Fantastic Four” (WP, Bricks, ACSS, & Frames) system is engineered for performance & user-friendly for professionals & non-techies.

This system is a favoured web-tech stack used by developers & agencies, as it speeds-up workflow.

See the scope of SBMarketer’s Website Marketing Services.

If you’re goal is to have an Internet business, get the “Fantastic Four” system to have a quality business foundation.

This web-tech used in my Website Launch Kits will help you launch an Internet business faster.

The Key: Not all website builders are equal & made for performance like Bricks.

It’s critical to use a pro builder, that outputs clean code & Semantic markup.

This system will save you time & money wasted on popular WP themes & builders that output messy code affecting Google’s CWVs.
